Pilots Guide
Pilots and CFIs fly the plane safely and keep the owner informed. The pilot in command decides if the plane is safe for the flight (FAR 91.3 and 91.7).
1 · Set up as a pilot
Keep your credentials current on the Pilots card - medical (MED), instrument (IFR) and instructor (CFI).

2 · Every flight with flysafeflow
Tap the purple flysafeflow button on the Pilots card. Five steps, on your phone:
1Familiarize — tap Checklist: FlySafe looks up the checklist and V-speeds for the plane's make and model and where to get the POH. Always confirm them in the plane's own POH.
2Flight planning & Preflight — route, weight & balance, fuel; ask FlySafe for weather, NOTAMs and TFRs; squawk the preflight so the owner knows the plane was checked.
3Takeoff monitoring — start FlySafe Takeoff at the hold short: threshold checklist and briefing (abort before V1, below 300 ft straight ahead, above 300 ft turn), spoken V1 / rotate / 300 ft calls, ATC recording and voice to text, GUMPS before landing.
4Debrief — the altitude profile, safety checks and alerts from your flight; write what went well, what to do better and the lessons; squawk the debrief and anything wrong with the plane.
5Payment & share — CFIs email the student the debrief, the hours and a payment link, or share it by text.
FlySafe Takeoff and Debrief are advisory aids from phone GPS (altitude ±30-50 ft, ground speed not airspeed) - not certified instruments. Flights and debriefs stay on the phone that recorded them; download or email a debrief to keep it.
3 · Bluetooth ATC & headset
Pair your headset or audio panel in the phone's Bluetooth settings, then on FlySafe Takeoff tap 🎧 Find audio devices.
Pick ATC in (for recording and Whisper transcripts) and FlySafe alerts out (the headset), then Check ATC level while the radio talks and Test alerts before you taxi.
Your headset or audio panel must send radio (COM) audio over Bluetooth – many only send your own voice for calls. Check its manual, or use an audio cable.
On iPhone the alerts follow the phone's audio route, so with the headset connected they play in the headset.
4 · Gear check camera COMING SOON · KPIE
On every approach to KPIE a PTZ camera, pointed by your ADS-B position from a local ADS-B antenna, photographs your landing gear.
Video analytics and the gear-transition sound confirm the gear is down – the picture pops up in the Landing box of FlySafe Takeoff, with a GEAR NOT DOWN – GO AROUND alert if it isn't.

The camera is a backup – GUMPS and your own gear check come first.
5 · Squawks and Notifications
Your preflight and debrief squawks go to the owner. The owner takes anything that needs fixing to the A&P in the plane Workflow - pilots are not part of that workflow.
The bell 🔔 shows when the plane is back in service (Flightworthy), bookings, and flight alerts for the planes you follow. Click a notification to reply.
Owners create and oversee projects in Flightworthy.org to fulfill their primary responsibility: the plane being Flightworthy (FAR 91.403).
1 · Set up your plane
Update the data for your Plane, Pilots and A&P (menu ☰ › Home).
Use the FlySafe task AI to prompt you on which tasks need to be created and when they are due.
2 · Run every project through the Workflow
Each project (annual, oil change, avionics install, registration…) moves through five steps. Owner and A&P share the same view, so everyone always knows where the plane is.
1Initiate — the owner creates the project and its tasks with FlySafe, then signs the A&P engagement agreement (if not done before).
2Inspection — the A&P inspects and writes the D-List (discrepancies).
3Proposal — after the Discrepancy List, the A&P presents the proposal from the D-List and Parts List and requests the owner's OK.
4Todo tasks — the A&P does the work (ToDo.vu optional); when the tasks are done, FlySafe writes the logbook entry from the tasks and parts, ready to print and sign; the ADs are checked and the AD list printed (a separate document); the digital logbook is kept up to the last annual - missing entries are built from the paper logbooks.
5Return to service — logbook entry signed, test flight, project signed off; the invoice is generated from the D-List, P-List, hours and rate; all pilots are told the plane is Flightworthy and to squawk their preflight and debrief.

Bluetooth ATC & headset — pilots can pair the headset or audio panel with their phone so ATC is recorded and transcribed, and FlySafe alerts play in the headset. If your audio panel or headsets can send radio (COM) audio over Bluetooth, tell your pilots; otherwise an audio cable from the intercom works.
Gear check cameraCOMING SOON · KPIE — on every approach to KPIE a PTZ camera, pointed by the plane's ADS-B position from a local ADS-B antenna, photographs the landing gear. Video analytics and the gear-transition sound confirm the gear is down, and the pilot gets a GEAR NOT DOWN – GO AROUND alert if it isn't – protecting your plane from a gear-up landing. Squawks from preflights and debriefs come back to you in Notifications and can start the next project in the Workflow.
The bell 🔔 at the top shows a red ★ when there is news, and a count when some are new.
Green rows are workflow notifications: who moved what, with their role (Owner, A&P, Pilot) and the step (WorkFlowAt). Flight alerts ✈ and squawks 💬 for the planes you follow are there too.

All projects have a (Discrepancy) D-List and a Parts List, which are shared and hold the agreed-upon tasks and costs. The A&P's work is visible to owners and pilots, like squawks and preflights are.
